A: If you use Plant Tuff Silicon pHertilizer alone, there are no worries about letting kids or pets play on the lawn. However, if you mix Plant Tuff with your traditional fertilizer, continue to follow any precautions noted on the fertilizer’s package.

General Directions for Use

We recommend that you use gardening gloves when handling this product.

Before you apply Plant Tuff Silicon pHertilizer, or any other fertilizer, to your lawn, garden or ornamental trees and shrubs it is recommended that you have your soil tested by your local University Extension Service and that you apply fertilizers according to their recommendations.

In the absence of a soil test, Plant Tuff recommends that you apply the 4.5 lbs. per 100 square feet or 2-4 tbsp. per plant of Plant Tuff Silicon pHertilizer in Early Spring or Fall.   Plant Tuff Silicon pHertilizer should be watered in thoroughly following application.   Applications may be broadcast on the soil surface or lightly incorporated into the soil.

Use the guidelines below to achieve the optimum pH of 6.5.

Specific Use Directions:

For Lawns:  In the Spring or Fall apply Plant Tuff at the rate of 45 lbs. per 1000 square feet. It is recommended that the product be watered in with ½ inch of water following the application.   You can apply up to twice each season.

Typical Spreader Settings:  Plant Tuff can be applied using a drop spreader or a rotary type broadcast spreader.   It is suggested that you set your spreader at the highest setting or the setting that has the widest opening.   You may have to apply the product in two passes with the second pass perpendicular to the first to achieve the suggested application rate.

For Vegetable and Herb Gardens:  Apply Plant Tuff at the rate of 4.5 lbs. per 100 square feet.  Apply it to the surface of the soil and then lightly incorporate it into the soil with a rake or rotor tiller.   You can apply in the Spring or Fall.

For Flower Gardens: Apply Plant Tuff at the rate of 4.5 lbs. per 100 square feet.   For potted flowers apply Plant Tuff at the rate of 2 tbsp. in a 12″ pot or 2 tsp. in a 6″ pot.   You can apply once every 30-45 days.

For Shrubs:  Apply Plant Tuff at the rate of 2 cups around the base of the shrub and water it in.  Apply up to 2 times per season, Spring and Fall.
